The University of Liberia is set to take another major step forward in rekindling the flame as Liberia’s foremost institution of higher learning as it prepares to launch doctoral programs in Biomedical Sciences. This will be the university’s first doctoral program since its formation in 1862.
The Acting President of the University of Liberia, Dr. Al Hassan Conteh revealed that the curriculum and faculty needed for the programs have been assessed and accepted, and that final formalities are being worked on to ensure the success of the PhD services.
“The University of Liberia will soon seek accreditation for these programs from the Association of African Universities and other science based educational institutions in the United States”, Dr. Conteh stated.
The PhD programs are expected to further engineer the university’s quest of being among the top institutions of higher in the West African region, an ambition that has been nursed for over seven years.
Dr. Conteh further indicated that the University of Liberia is partnering with other regional and global tertiary institutions to strengthen the already existing academic programs at the UL geared towards ensuring quality education delivery to savvy Liberia’s educational woes.
“We have rekindled the University of Liberia’s partnership with several universities in Africa, India and the United States of America to boost capacity building and potential training programs for the faculties”, said Dr. Conteh.
